Q:
DAE error -36 is thrown when initiating or during playback with the drive connected to an ATTO card. Drive also seems to unmount at will.
A:
Make sure you are working with an EPCI-DC card and the drive is formatted with ExpressPro-Tools 2.32. In one instance a customer had inadvertently purchased the EPCI-PSC (Single-Channel RAID Solution Kit). The retailer also sold him an IBM Hard Drive, which they graciously formatted for him... with ATTO Express RAID! Norton Disk Doctor found various problems with the Hard Drive (bit map errors, B-Tree errors, etc...) and would act like it was fixing the problems...but things only got worse from there. The customer could hear the drive spinning down in the middle of a session, after which it became unavailable. The Hard Drive unmounted spontaneously at one point and disappeared from the desktop.
