Q:
What are the differences between DSI / DAE 5.0 and DSI / DAE 5.0.1? (Digisystem INIT / Digidesign Audio Engine)
A:
DSI 5.0.1 eliminates the need for "Digidesign Output Drivers" in the Extensions folder and allows the new "Digidesign" control panel to work behind the scenes to provide the Digidesign hardware option in the Macintosh Sound control panel. Also, the Direct I/O element of DAE has been extracted and reshaped into a library called "Digidesign Direct I/O". It resided in the extensions folder and provided access to Digidesign hardware by Direct I/O applications such as MasterList CD. Incidentally, it is not necessary to reboot the computer to make a library active once placed in the extensions folder.
