Q:
There is a 6db drop on the Main L/R outputs while in surround monitor mode. When switching the ProControl to stereo monitor mode the level goes back up to +4 (unity) The level on the Surround L/R and center/lfe channels stay at unity in both surround and stereo monitor modes. All of the pots are up on full. Is this the correct behavior?
A:
The -6dB L/R level difference in surround mode is deliberate, and is documented in the manual. It is necessary in order for the center and surround levels to exceed the L/R levels. If this level difference was not present, the L/R levels could never be adjusted to be less than the surround channels. The surround trims should be adjusted to match the L/R channels, then the main level control should be adjusted for the make-up gain.
