Q:
ATTO EPCI DC card will not allow drives to mount after attempting to use it with AudioVision.
A:
In ExpressPro-Tools 2.3.2 , there is a check box for each SCSI ID called "Inhibit Driver Loading." Avid Startup sets this bit, which prevents the disk driver from loading off of the disk. Instead, they use the ATTO INIT to load the drivers for all the drives. There are two ways to mount drives after this happens: 1) Using the 2.3.2 version of EPT uncheck the Inhibit Driver Loading box and hit Apply To All. This will clear that bit on all IDs for that channel. (Do it for both channels.) The only catch here is, if Avid Startup is still in the startup folder, it'll undo this parameter change. So, it's only really a solution for using an ATTO card that won't be used in an Avid system.2) Use the current EPT version 2.3 INIT in the extensions folder to mount the drives. ATTO has fixed the performance bugs that were part of the basis for our advice not to install the INIT. Now, if you have the INIT installed and the IDL boxes checked, the drives will operate as normal using the ATTO driver.
