When trying to record audio in programs like Wave lab and Sound Forge, I get static, clicks in the audio, or pulse sounds recorded with the audio on my hard drive.

This can happen when trying to record to a 9 Gigabyte hard drive or larger that has been formatted with Fat 32 file format.You can most likely fix the problem by adjusting the buffer size from medium to small in the setting options for the Wave driver in the Multimedia control panels.
