Q:
Pro Tools changes note durations when importing/exporting Standard MIDI Files.
A:
Fixed on both import and export in Pro Tools 5.1:Export: when a note off occurred at the same time as the next note on, we sometimes put the note on before the note off. Now we always put the note off first, avoiding overlapping notes at the same pitch.Import: When we run across overlapping notes at the same pitch, the first note is cutoff at the attack of the second note, and the second note continues until the BOTH note offs are seen. Previously the second note cut off when the first note off was seen, which was usually the note off corresponding to the first note. When you put the two above behaviors together, when we exported a note on before the note off, the import would cut the second note quite short.

Exporting a 48 kHz stereo pair to MP3 results in a garbled MP3 file. DigiSystem INIT 5.0.1 hangs on boot up to 50% of the time on a Blue & White G3 or PCI G4. When using MIDI Machine Control (MMC) Pro Tools can begin playback at the wrong point after sync is achieved. The naming structure for files recorded in Pro Tools 5.0.1 and earlier creates confusion when those files are imported and edited in other sessions. Adding enough memory locations with the time properties set to 'none' will make Pro Tools crash with a type 2 error. |
