Q:
The ABVB card has a port for an additional VGA monitor. What can this port be used for and what settings are necessary?
A:
Use of a video monitor connected to the ABVB card is qualified for viewing the floating movie window only. Displaying any other Pro Tools window on this monitor may cause DAE -6042 PCI bus too busy errors. Although Digidesign normally suggests setting monitor resolutions to 256 colors, the ABVB monitor should always be set to millions of colors to prevent video distortion. The card's VGA port is always active even when no monitor is connected. It is recommended that in the Monitors and Sound control panel you arrange the monitor icons so that the ABVB monitor's lower left corner is touching the upper right corner of your last Macintosh monitor. This configuration will help keep you from accidentally causing a window to be partially drawn on the ABVB monitor.
