Q:
Pro Tools 5.1 is losing I/O settings for tracks 17 and above.
A:
This happens when you do a Save Session copy in, and then save it as a Pro Tools 5 session. Tracks 17 and above are set to no inputs and in some cases to no outputs when you reopen the session. In a system that has 3 888 I/Os or more and the session has 24 tracks or more. This can happen if the session was originally a 5.0 session and then was opened in 5.1, or it can happen if it is and new 5.1 session and then save session copy in, and save it as a Pro Tools 5 session. If you reopen it in Pro Tools 5.1 then the inputs and in some cases the outputs are set to no input/no output. If you open the same session in Pro Tools 5.0.1 it sets the inputs and outputs to bus31/bus32.You will have to reassign all the inputs and outputs on these tracks as necessary to get them to play or record.
