Q:
When synching my ADAT to Pro Tools and try to play a session from the 00:00:00:00 location, my ADAT fast forwards to what seems like the end of the tape. When I start playing the session at a few seconds into the session, everything functions normally.
A:
The Setups>Peripherals>MIDI Machine Control window defaults to 90 frames, which when playing Pro Tools from 0:00.000 translates to somewhere in the area of 23:57:00 for the ADAT, so it sends the ADAT screaming forward looking for the magical 23 hour part on the tape... which of course does not exist... Moral:Reduce the pre-roll to 30 (or less) frames, and start playback at 2 seconds instead of 00:00:00:00 and all should be fine.
