When the Pro Tools user exports the session through DigiTranslator and chooses to embed the audio, on import into Symphony, the AVID creates new media files (with new suffixes added to the names) from the embedded audio. The resulting Avid sequence links to these new media files.If the Avid User then exports the sequence as OMF Composition Only (without media) and the Pro Tools user imports it through DigiTranslator, DigiTranslator properly asks "Where is: (name of Avid MediaFile)." At this point, DigiTranslator will not link the OMF to the original media files (from Pro Tools) because media has been renamed by the AVID.Solution:The Avid user should Embed the audio into the OMF on export, OR Consolidate the audio to a drive then export as OMF Composition Only and bring the media on the drive to the Pro Tools user. Unfortunately, in this work flow the resulting OMF sequence from Avid will not link back to the original media on the Pro Tools system. The Pro Tools user will have to be handed a drive or cd with the AVID media files on it.The other workflow the Pro Tools User may use (depending on their situation) is to export the sequence through DigiTranslator with external media selected. This would require the user to bring the newly created external audio files and OMF session file to the Avid on a drive (leaving a copy of the new audio on the Pro Tools system). Then when the Avid user exports the OMF Composition Only, on Import through DigiTranslator you can point the session to the files that were create by DigiTranslator on the original export from Pro Tools. Either way, new media gets created, either by Digi Translator or by Avid.
