I installed a couple 888/24 audio interfaces in a rack (no space between them) and they get really hot...egg frying hot. Is that normal?

Not to worry. the heat is generated by two sources:1-The analog circuitry of the interface is what consumes the most power. As long as you keep your rack within the maximum ambient temp listed in the 888|24 manual, you'll be fine. 2-We use the case as a heatsink for the converter voltage regulators. That's why the case seems so hot.
