Tapping fingers for up to 10 seconds when trying to record audio in Pro Tools 5.1. When Quickpunch is active it may even take longer (up to 30 seconds).

Check the volume cache setting.If it's set to 128 k, try to increase it to 512 k, restart the Mac. Pro Tools should now start recording immediately.This problem occurs also when the volume cache is set to higher values than 512 k.
