When opening Macintosh recorded audio files on a Windows computer and on a Mac again the files are not properly recognized.
 
A:
The cause for this problem is that Macintosh computers using HFS and HFS+ file systems (i.e. previous to OS X) work with two data structures: a resource fork and a data fork. Windows NTFS and FAT file format use only the "data fork" component of the file.When importing a Mac file to a PC volume, the PC will discard the resource fork and damage your file.SolutionThere is a program available called "Restorer 2000" for Windows 2000. This program adds back the resource fork.
