Would I be able to achieve a higher track count with Pro Tools|HD hardware (i.e. 24 tracks at 192k instead of 16) if I upgraded from a 32 bit to a 64 bit chassis?
 
A:
No. At 192 kHz, even in a 64-bit chassis you're likely to run into -6042 errors above 16 tracks. You may get to 20 tracks, but that's about it. Running the HD cards in the main CPU (no chassis) will allow you to get to 24 tracks at 192 kHz.As of this writing (01/30/02) we are working to optimize PCI performance at 192 kHz, so it's possible that increased track counts (with and without a chassis) may be possible some day.
