Q:
In 9-pin remote mode, how does Pro Tools send time code back to the controller?
A:
When using 9-pin remote mode, you must check generate timecode using SYNC I/O (or USD) in the Session Setup window for Pro Tools to lock to the video reference with frame edge accuracy. Both SYNC I/O (or USD) and the controller must be locked to black burst. At the time of this writing, Pro Tools 5.x does not actually generate LTC or MTC out of the SYNC I/O or USD.
