Pro Audio Support

Q:
What does the Device Setting Tab do?

A:
* Device Control: Choose the option for your particular video equipment. For more information, see Viewing settings for a preset.

* Capture/Input: Choose a capture preset for how you want Final Cut Pro to show video in the Edit to Tape window. If this is set to DV, you preview via FireWire; if you're using an approved analog-to-digital capture card, you may have choices (Composite, S-Video, or Component In) based on capture presets in the Audio/Video Settings window. For more information about presets, see Creating a new preset.

* Despite the name of this pop-up menu, you are not actually capturing material and digitizing it to your computer. When you edit to tape, you're using material that's already on tape. The only way to preview your edits with material before and after your edit is to view, or "capture," material that's on the tape.
