As a DX7 user, the first parameter looked for when trying to program some sounds as on the DX was the algorithm, i.e. how the operators interact with one another. Could you please let me know where it is and/or what it is called in FM7?
A:
In the DX7 the algorithms were necessary since the synth did not allow to connect the operators freely. There were just a number of algorithms for different connections. In the FM7 you have the operator Matrix where you can connect the operators totally free. You can open the Matrix by clicking on the "Matrix" button above the envelope display when you are for instance on the Operator A page. There are some of the algorithms available in the preset dropdown list of the Matrix window.
