Q:
I am having latency problems with ProTools and the MBox on my PC, Why?
A:
Here are a few tips regarding latency issues with Mbox on a Windows PC:
When recording into Pro Tools LE/Windows: 1) Mute record enabled audio track in Pro Tools. When recording on Mbox, you are actually monitoring the audio signal going to Mbox. If the record enabled audio track is not muted, you will also be monitoring the signal going out of Pro Tools back to Mbox. This will be heard as a doubling effect because you are hearing both the input and the latent output at the same time. 2) Adjust the "Mix" knob on Mbox to prevent any echo or latency sound. 3) Press the "Mono" button on Mbox. This will prevent the input signal from sounding hard panned left or right when adjusting the Mix knob on Mbox. The "Mono" knob does not affect the mix playing out of Pro Tools, just the incoming signal.

I have some audio tracks in my ProTools session and I would like to process them with some FX ensembles in Reaktor. How can I route the audio from the audio track to Reaktor for processing? I have four Reaktors loaded as VST instruments in Cubase 5. When I try to load a 5th, Cubase says "Sorry, Plug-in not loaded". Similarly, only four instances of Reaktor as a VST send effect is possible. I want to use midi to control a Reaktor ensemble....sadly Reaktor is not available as VST FX in the audio instrument list, but only as a VSTi so the sidechain box does'nt appear in the bottom of logic GUI. I'm sending my samples through AUX A, and only the first effect is working. When I imported my drum sounds, they sound really weird. It seems like they are really high pitched. |
