Q:
Known issues with current versions of SampleTank
A:
. OK to share with individuals if one issue exists in their case.
1. Multiprocessing is NOT supported in OS9. Any host (DP, Logic, Cubase or others..) has a setting for it, always suggest to the user to turn it off. 2. We discovered that many users that are experiencing crashes are loading separated instances for every sound, instead of loading sounds in all the part of a single module. This causes RAM problems, especially on OS9, because Always remember to ask this, it seems obvious for us but it's not obvious for the users. 3. When the user is experiencing random crashes loading sounds first of all make sure there is RAM enough (OS9) assigned to the application. SampleTank 2 cannot work on OS9 systems with less than 150 - 200 Megs assigned to the host. 4. SampleTank 2 does not support Windows 98 / 98SE and ME. With these OS it will emit distorted and not workable sounds. 5. SampleTank 2 does NOT have specific problems with Cubase SX2 or Nuendo2, both OSX and Win XP. These hosts are 100% supported and are not giving particular problems. When some installtion on SX2 has some problem it must be for another reason. 6. The version 2.0.2 and older does NOT support the keyword search in OSX, it causes a crash. It is fully working with 2.0.3 and newer. 7. When a user is experiencing a random crash loading patches always ask to test it with a clean, fresh, install of the sound content CDs, with no 3rd party libraries or converted programs. 8. When a user is experiencing a random crash loading patches try to ask to test it with another host, if he or she has one, this test can reveal things. Also ask to test with NO hardware midi input. Some midi controller is streaming strange data flows which can disturb ST2. 9. If a user is saying that ST2 is not working always ask if it is crashing the host, hanging the computer, not playing (is silent), if it's now showing the instruments. 10. Always ask if it is receiving MIDI or not (flashing ST2 part numbers or not when midi is sent..) 11. Very important for ProTools: some ProTools systems stops the audio engine while SampleTank2 is loading sounds or doing something else (relist, preanalysis..) therefore it won't produce any sound right after the sound loading. In order to have ProTools to sound again the user must simply hit the playback button (space bar). This will reactivate the PT audio engine and therefore ST2 audio will be heard. This is _very_ important: we had numerous customers saying that ST2 was not playing after loading some sounds.. this was the cause. 12. Version 2.0.1 and previous was crashing when loading the Reverb FX at 88.2 and 96 KHz samplerates on OSX. 13. SampleTank 2 DXi does not work in Sonar 2, 3 and Project Five. It hangs and skips notes. Since Sonar2, 3 and Project Five support the VST we can suggest to use it, it gives no problems in these hosts.
