Can the Kurzweil K2661 hold an instrument which is playing with the keys or pedal down while switching to another patch and hear both patches? It seems to cut off the sound when I change patches.

No, unlike the previous Kurzweil keyboards, the new design of the K2661 does not allow you to change a patch while holding onto the previous one.
