When I hit play in Finale, my keyboard/sound module gets set to Patch 0...

When I hit play in Finale, my keyboard/sound module gets set to Patch 0 (zero).

In Finale go to the Windows menu and select Instrument List. Un-check the option "send patches before play." When patch assigments are not used here, Finale will send patch #0 unless you turn this off.
