Pro Audio Support

Q:
"No record volumes designated" when trying to record in Pro Tools 6.0. All volumes show up as Transfer ("T") in the Workspace browser and cannot be changed to Playback ("P") or Record ("R"). The error "'Drive X' can not be designated as an audio record drive because it is not a valid audio volume" is posted in Pro Tools for OS X.

A:
Uninstall Pro Tools *** , repair disk permissions (see note below), then reinstall Pro Tools. You should then be able to go to Windows>Show Workspace in Pro Tools and change to a Record "R" volume under the 'A' column.
If the problem still exists, several users running OS 10.2.3 have resolved this problem by upgrading to OS 10.2.6
* To repair disk permissions, run the Disk Utility located at Macintosh HD>Applications>Utilities>Disk Utility. Click on the 'First Aid' tab, then select your main drive (with your OSX installation) in the left window and click on 'Repair Disk Permissions'. Restart your computer before reinstalling Pro Tools.

*** We've found that it is sometimes not necessary to uninstall and reinstall Protools. Try repairing disk permissions alone first and see if it helps.
