Q:
When I try to install a Cakewalk or Sonar product, it gives me an error about DirectX not being the proper version, how do I get around this? I think I have a newer version of DirectX than is on the CD.
A:
One of the following two errors will stop installation if you need this update:
"You must install DirectX 8 to proceed" or "You are not running Windows 95. Please upgrade to Win 98, ME, XP.." You can go to www.cakewalk.com and download the first file: "Can't install our products after adding Microsoft DirectX 9 to your system? Click here for help". This will allow you to download an installer that will bypass the problem. It will not downgrade or change your version of DirectX but simply work around it. More directions are provided on this website.
