When in HDR (hard disk recording) mode on the Samson MDR6, why can't I get channel 1 & 2 to pan center to my 2trk output?

This special mode (HDR mode) assumes channel 1 is left and channel 2 is right and cannot be changed (to the 2trk output). If you're not in HDR mode, panning them center is possible. The pan still affects the control room / headphone outputs.
