Q:
How do I partition and format a hard drive on Windows 2000 & Windows XP?
A:
1. Go to Start - Control Panel - Administrative Tools - Computer Management - Disk Management.
The wizard may pop up to help you, you can use this or cancel. 2. Your drives and partitions will appear on a list and in graphical format. 3. Right-click on the leftmost box (which probably says disk 1 or disk 2, depending on your drive configuraiton) and click Initialize. This will take a few seconds. 4. Then choose the area which says "Unallocated" and right-click on it (the displayed size should be similar to your Glyph drive, like an 120 gig drive should show 110-115gb). Go to New Partition. 5. Hit Next 4 times until you get several choices on the screen. Choose the Quick Format button, hit Next, and Finish when you see the summary. * It may tell you it cannot quickformat it, go ahead with the long format if this is the case. The partitioning and formatting process will take a short time, and will not require a reboot. Your drive is ready for use. You can exit Computer Management when done.
