Q:
Why does my CDRom, floppy, or hard drive not show up in my Windows XP My Computer and/or it has a yellow ! in device manager and will not install properly. What can I do?
A:
** This requires advanced knowledge of the Windows Registry, if you are not familiar with the registry, it's best to leave this to a qualified computer technician as deleting incorrect entries in the registry can render Windows unusable.
1. Run Regedit 2. Backup your registry. File - Export, select ALL range and type a filename. This will take about a minute. 3. Search for Upperfilters under H_Key_Local_Machine. 4. When you find one whose value is not ATAPI or RedBook, delete it. Also delete the Lowerfilters key just above this one. 5. Reboot your machine and the drives should show up.
