Q:
Why doesn't my Marantz PMD670 seem to charge my batteries when the power supply is connected to the unit?
A:
Please note the RB1600 or RB1650 battery will not be charged inside the unit.
Also, the PMD670 needs to be told what type of battery you're using. The default is Alkaline; this prevents you from accidentally charging a non-rechargable battery and damaging the unit and battery. You can go into the menu and set the type of battery to Alkaline, NiCd (Nickel-Cadmium) for the RB1100 battery, or NiMH (Nickel-Metal-Hydride) for the RB1600 or RB1650 battery. There is also a mis-print in the manual on charging light status. The battery light is ON while charging, and turns off when charging is complete, but the manual says the light comes on when charging is complete.
