Q:
After updating ProTools 6 to 6.7 (on Mac OSX), I can't choose the HUI in Perihperals > Midi controllers. When I do, ProTools unexpectedly quits.
A:
In one case when updating to ProTools LE 6.7 from 6.4, the MIDI Controller Personalities for the Mackie HUI (or Motormix) did not get updated. Check to see if your HUI personality is outdated by going to:
Mac HD > Applications > Digidesign > ProTools > Controllers. Click once on the document "HUI" and choose "Get Info" from the FILE menu. The version should say 6.7. If this personality does not indicate that it's v6.7 drag that item to the trash. Then download the legacy MIDI controllers from digidesign.com (click support, downloads, and look for "control surfaces" in the Download Categories section). Follow the instructions posted to dowload and install the "Legacy MIDI controllers." for ProTools 6.7.
