This only works in Cubase SX as far as I can tell you - all other host applications either require to "record enable" the track making use of the MelodyneBridge (e.g. Logic) or to use a MelodyneBridge as a VST Instrument to be able to listen to what is played back in Melodyne seperately from the host sequencer.Unfortunately this is not a design flaw by Melodyne but the restrictions in accessing the mixer sections of these host applications from outside when no playback is running.
