Q:
A Pro Tools 6.x session created on a different system will open on Mac OSX ProTools system, but I can't "Consolidate" regions or use Audiosuite plugins. When I try one of those operations, Pro Tools shows a DAE error -7401.
A:
This can sometimes be caused if the imported session's audio files have a "read only" designation.
To fix this, open the session folder and single-click the Audio Files folder. Then choose Get Info from the FILE menu. In the "Ownership and Permissions" section, make sure all buttons say "Read and Write" (and especially not "Read Only"). Finally click the "Apply to Enclosed items" button so that the audio files inside will be changed.
