In Digital Performer 4.1 - 4.6, I can only select the input or output for the Edirol UA-1X in the Configure Hardware Driver Window.

When selecting the USB device in DP's Configure Hardware Driver "CoreAudio" list, click the UA1X output (possibly labeled "USB Audio Out") then hold the SHIFT key as you click the UA1X Input ("USB Audio In").

Holding the shift key allows you to select multiple CoreAudio drivers. In this case (Mac OSX) the UA1X input and output appear as two drivers.
