Q:
Can I use Saffire without authorising the PACE protected host plugins?
A:
Yes. You may use the Saffire hardware, SaffireControl software, and the DSP plugins without PACE authorisation on any compatible Mac or PC. This means you can use as many computers as you like. The only elements of Saffire which have copy protection are the host VST and AudioUnit plugins. These must be authorised to run on your computer. This can be done on up to 4 computers. Please have a look at the other articles in this category for more information on how to authorise you Saffire host VST or AudioUnit plugins.
SKIPPING PACE AUTHORISATION ON MAC OS X If you are a Mac user and wish to skip the Authorisation: 1. Run the Saffire Installer as usual. 2. Towards the end of installation, the PACE plugin authoriser will pop up and request authorisation. Simply quit the authoriser and continue with the Saffire Installation. 3. Once Saffire installation is complete, you are ready to use the Saffire hardware, Saffire Control software, and DSP hardware powered plugins. NOTE: On the Mac, the host VST and AudioUnit plugins are still installed, but they won't run as they are unauthorised. However, skipping authorisation prevents wasting one of your 4 authorisations on a computer you may only use once. SKIPPING PACE AUTHORISATION ON WINDOWS XP If you are a PC user and wish to skip the Authorisation: 1. Run the Saffire Installer as usual. 2. At the end of installation, you will see an checbox to install VST plugins. Uncheck this check box, and continue (ie Finish) the installer 3. Saffire installation is now complete, and you are ready to use the Saffire hardware, Saffire Control software, and DSP hardware powered plugins. NOTE: On the PC, if you skip the VST plugin installer, and wish to install the VST plugins at a later date, simply run the Saffire VST Plugin Installer located in your Saffire program folder.
