Pro Audio Support

Q:
I have an MBox and a G5, running Pro Tools LE 6.9.2 in Mac OS 10.4.x. When I play more than one audio track I get the message, "The operating system held off interrupts for too long, try increasing hardware buffer size" with error -9094 included.

A:
1. Be sure to connect the MBox directly to a built-in USB port on the G5. (In some cases, connecting the MBox to a USB hub has caused this problem.)

2. In Pro Tools' SETUP menu, choose Playback Engine. The options there should be set to:
• H/W Buffer size = 512, or higher
• CPU Usage Limit = %95 or lower, but NOT %99
• DAE Playback Buffer = Level 2 (default)

3. Click the Apple menu and choose System Preferences. There, click Energy Saver and visit the Options page. Make sure "Processor Performance" is set to HIGHEST.
