Q:
I noticed that I can set a different sample rate for the input- and for the output of my M-Audio JamLab within Audio MIDI Setup. However, when I do this, my audio software gives me all kinds of trouble - from error messages to application crashes. Why?
A:
The JamLab requires the same sample rate to be used for its input- AND for its output. Since there is no driver to install for the JamLab, but it makes use of Apple's class compliant driver for Mac OS X, all features the class compliant driver offers will be available - regardless of if these features can actually be used with a particular device or not. The JamLab does not have the capability to run its input and output on different sample rates although Audio MIDI Setup allows you to make such settings.
Always select the same sample rate for the JamLab's input AND output!
