Q:
Why doesn't Live play my automation changes in the Arrangement View sometimes?
A:
Live does not play a control's automation because the automation for this control has been overridden and is therefore disabled. This happens when you grab a control and manually set it to a new value while playing back the Arrangement. Also, when you launch a clip from the Session View, in the respective track, Live disables the automation for all controls in the track. Notice the "Back to Arrangement" button turns red to let you know that you are not hearing the Arrangement as it is stored. Press the "Back to Arrangement" button to return the Arrangement to its stored state. This feature allows you to "break away" from the Arrangement structure and spontaneously add clips and control parameters in Live.
Press the Back to Arrangement button to return the Arrangement to its stored state.

Why does the Global Quantization menu value not affect clip launches on some of my clips? When I put Live in full screen mode in Mac OS X 10.3 (Panther) or 10.4 (Tiger), I am unable to see the menu bar at the top of the screen no matter what I do. The shortcut does not work, and any Live Set I open also has this problem. What do I do to fix this? How can I copy and paste clip envelopes/automation envelopes in Live 3, 4 or 5? I can't figure out how to select them. I am getting glitches/dropouts with my large Live Set. I only seem to get the glitches/dropouts when I launch a clip that hasn't played yet. I am using a Mac running Mac OS X 10.3 Panther or 10.4 Tiger, and Live is taking a long time to open. How can I fix this? |
