Q:
My recording program is acting funny when I make changes with the knobs in GearBox. What’s wrong?
A:
What you’re seeing is probably a MIDI feedback loop. Many sequencers default to echoing MIDI commands back to the device that sent them. With programs/devices like GearBox that respond instantly to their own controls instead of waiting for a command to echo back from the sequencer/recording program, this means that every command will get acted on at least twice (possibly more when you’re doing something like sweeping through a controller as you would with a wah or volume setting). Look for the setting in your recording program that controls “MIDI echo” and turn it off for the UX1/UX2.

I’m trying to use Reason through the UX1/UX2 ASIO I/O, but I’m not hearing any output from Reason. I see signal from the Instrument Input showing up on the meters when I’m using the line input. Is that normal? I was running the Activity Monitor program /checking my Login Items settings and I noticed something called ‘GearBox Helper’. I don’t see a program of that name running in my application dock. What is it, and why is it there? I turned the Mic Level knob(s) all the way down on my UX1/UX2 and I still hear the mic(s). What’s up with that? I turned the Mic Level knob up three quarters of the way and it’s clipping. Should it be doing that? |
