Q:
My Firepod/Firebox is not working with Sonar 5. Why?
A:
This combination will not work unless both components are using the latest drivers. You can solve the problem by the following :
1. Uninstall your initial Presonus driver by going to Control Panel>Add/Remove programs and highlight the Presonus Firepod Driver. Select Change/Remove and uninstall the driver. 2. Go to www.presonus.com and select the current driver for Windows XP. Make sure your Firepod is Off and the Firewire cable is NOT connected to the computer. Download and follow the installation procedure connecting the Firepod when prompted. You may also be asked to update the Firepod's Firmware at this time. Go ahead and do that. Just Restart the Firepod once it is updated 3. Restart Your Computer. 4. Go to www.cakewalk.com and scroll down to the bottom of the page and select Sonar. Select Sonar 5 on the left column. Select the Sonar 5.0.1 Patch which is a free download Scroll to the bottom of the next page and select the Update Patch. 5. Restart Your Computer. Your Firepod should have a Blue Sync light on the front panel once the computer is rebooted. 6. Launch Sonar and go to Options>Audio>General and make sure that the Firepod is selected as the Playback Timing Master and Record Timing Master. You should now be able to record and playback in Sonar.
