Q:
How do I transfer my Pro Tools session files between Mac (OS X or OS 9) and Windows (XP or ME) via a hard drive?
A:
Cross platforming ability is only available for Pro Tools v5.1 on up. It is possible to transfer your Pro Tools session from Mac to PC (or PC to Mac) on an external hard drive (ie. FireWire or SCSI). Here's how to do it:
A) Follow the instructions from Knowledgebase article #30184 to prepare your Pro Tools session for Mac/PC Compatibility. B) When moving Pro Tools sessions from Mac to PC, the PC must have either MacOpener v6.0.5 or MacDrive v6 installed to be able to view a Mac formatted hard drive (formatted as HFS or HFS+ ). Copy the Pro Tools session from this transfer drive to a hard drive native to the PC system. C) When moving Pro Tools sessions from PC to Mac (OS X), any hard drive formatted as Fat 32 or NTFS should be recognized on the Mac. Copy the session from this drive to the native drive on the Mac system. Be sure to look at Knowledgebase article #30184 for a more detailed explanation.
