While Kontakt is running, put in the AKAI CD into your internal CD drive. Wait a couple of seconds, then choose "refresh" from the Tools menu in Kontakts browser. Scroll down in the browser as necessary to find the AKAI CD in the list, click on the icon to open it and step through the folders as necessary.

In TOOLS -> VIEW make sure you can see the file types you want to see.
