Q:
Why does Pro Tools 7 not have the features for saving a MP3 that the older versions of Pro Tools had?
A:
According to Digidesign, the Mp3 option in version 7.0 has a simplified feature set. It no longer includes the advanced settings like the ability to create protected files, variable bit rate encoding, or the ability to create 48 kHz files. Form what I understand this is due to changes made in the Mp3 codec that they license from the Fraunhofer Institute.
