Q:
Does my product support Windows Vista?

A:
Microsoft Windows Vista compatibility information for some Canon digital video cameras using memory cards

This model is not supported for direct connection downloads of still images using the drivers built into Windows Vista

To download video via the 4 pin DV/HDV (IEEE-1394) terminal no additional drivers are needed as the drivers are built into Windows Vista. Video editing may be performed by using a variety of 3rd party programs that are available from software vendors or by using the Windows Movie Maker (standard definition video only) application built into Windows Vista.

Canon has completed initial testing of Canon digital video cameras and has found that all digital video camera models that support PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol) for still image downloads via USB may be used with Windows Vista as is. No additional drivers are needed to download still images using the applications built into Windows Vista. For custom camera settings, additional drivers and/or software may be required. Delivery of Windows Vista-compatible applications and drivers is in progress. The models and applications supported in Vista can be viewed on that models download page linked below.

To download Windows Vista compatible application updates please visit the Canon Download Library and select your model. From your models page select the Drivers/Software link to open a new window which will detail the available software applications for your product using the operating systems supported by Canon.
*Note: Still images cannot be downloaded via the DV/HDV terminal.
