Q:
Can I record audio from my keyboard just by connecting a MIDI cable to my PreSonus interface?
A:
No. MIDI is a control language. It transmits things like note on, note off, pitch, velocity, duration, etc. MIDI cannot produce sound in and of itself, the data must be sent to a device that can interpret it and can generate sound, like a synthesizer. Once you have finish a sequence with your sound module, you can record it as audio using the Firebox by connecting audio cables from the output of your sound module into the line level inputs (3&4) of the Firebox. In order to listen to your sound module while sequencing, you will need to connect it to a sound output device. If you wish to use both the sound module and the audio from your computer, it is recommended to use mixer.
