Q:
My computer's network configuration, firewall, etc. will not allow me to use the BIAS Authorization Manager to register and authorize my BIAS software - but does allow me to send and receive email. Is there an alternate way of Authorizing?
A:
Launch the BIAS Authorization Manager, which is located in:
/Macintosh HD/Applications/ on Mac systems or: Program FilesBIAS on Windows XP systems In the BIAS Authorization Manager dialog, select the BIAS product you wish to authorize in the "Please Choose a Product" section. Enter your product serial number and email address — your serial number is printed on the Owner's Certificate included in the package you were shipped, or on the email receipt of a downloadable purchase. Click the Alternate Authorization button — the Alternate Authorization dialog appears. In the Alternate Authorization dialog, click the Generate Authorization Request button — the Serial Number/Email Address dialog appears. Confirm that the email address and serial number are correct, and click the OK button to save an Authorization Request File to your Desktop — you may now hide the BIAS Authorization manager temporarily. Locate the Authorization Request File (called "Authorization Request file.txt") your Desktop. On Macintosh systems, Control-click on the Authorization Request File's icon, and choose "Create Archive of Authorization Request file.txt". This will create a "zipped" version of that file that will be emailed to BIAS in the next step. On Windows systems, right-click on the Authorization Request File's icon, and choose "Send to > Compressed (zipped) Folder)". This will create a "zipped" version of that file that will be emailed to BIAS in the next step. Attach the zipped Authorization Request File to an email, and send it to: register@bias-inc.com We will process the Authorization Request File, and will respond with a zipped "Authorization File" (this file will be made up of the Product Name and version number — for example an Authorization File for Peak would be called "BIAS Peak Pro 5.x"). Unzip this file. Bring the BIAS Authorization Manager to the foreground (or re-launch it). Go directly to step 4 in the Alternate Authorization dialog — click the Open Authorization File button. In the Open dialog that appears, locate and select the Authorization File, then click the Open button. Click OK in the Authorization Complete dialog, and Done in the Authorization Manager.
