Q:
How do I set the Alesis HD24 to use less than 24 inputs?
A:
The HD24 uses Input Normalling to allow 2, 4, 8, 12, or 24 inputs to feed the 24 channels. It's default setting is 24 inputs.
For instance, an 8 channel preamp could be connected to inputs 1-8 or the first ADAT input and be normalled to channels 1-8, 9-16 and 17-24 by putting the HD24 in 8 input mode. Hold the Input Select button until the screen reads "Select Audio Input Tracks." Then, press the Track Select button for the number of inputs you wish to use. (for instance, to choose 8 input mode, press Track Select for ch. 8)
