Q:
Updating the OS on a MPC 2500
A:
To update the MPC2500 first go to AKAI Pro at
http://www.akaipro.com/supportos.php#MPC2500 and download the latest OS version. Make sure to back up all of the contents of the internal drive first. Now unzip the file if the computer hasw not already done so. Inser t the compact flash card into the MPC2500 and turn on the MPC2500. Go to load mode and press USB (F4). The screen on the MPC should now show "status=connected". You should now be able to browse the compact flash card on the computer. Open the OS version update that was just downloaded from AKAI and copy the OS .bin file to the compact flash (make sure that you don't put it in any folder). Once the file has been copied disconnect the MPC2500 from the computer. Turn off the the MPC2500 hold down the Window button on the MPC2500 while powering it on. There will be a prompt that will state that this will update the MPC2500. Make sure not to turn the power off while the update is in progress. Press the F6 button and it will proceed to update the OS and reboot automatically. Power off the MPC2500 for 30 seconds and then turn the unit back on while holding the ERASE button down to reinitialize the MPC. It is recommended that the you format the internal hard drive and then reload all of the sounds. All done!
