Q:
"not enough disk space" message when I try to install Omnisphere onto my Windows PC, but have plenty of hard drive space.
A:
Many of the files included with the Omnisphere installer are larger than 4gb in size. If you are using these on an external hard drive, there is a good chance that the hard drive is formatted for the FAT32 filesystem. This will create a problem since the maximum filesize limit is 4gb for FAT32.
To check for this, right click on "My Computer" then choose "Manage". In the left pane, choose "Disk Management". In the upper-right pane, find your hard drive that you are installing your samples to and check to see what filesystem the drive is. If it is FAT32 you will need to reformat your hard drive to the NTFS format. Before you reformat your hard drive, please note that you MUST BACKUP IMPORTANT FILES!! THIS WILL ERASE ALL INFORMATION ON THAT DRIVE. To format the drive, right click on the drive icon and select "delete partition". The press "ok" on the warning. Right click on the drive icon again, then select "new partition" then follow the on-screen instructions. Usually the default options are fine for most users. Make sure to select NTFS as the new filesystem if it isn't selected already. Then let it finish formatting. You can now re-install without errors. Happy recording!
