Q:
Compatibility After Session 8 is installed, another device in the computer stops working. (IRQ, Port)

A:
1) What is the IRQ (interrupt) setting of the other device? If it is IRQ 11 (many other SCSI cards use IRQ 11 as their default), then you must change the IRQ of Session 8 or the other device. To change the IRQ of Session 8, change the jumper on the SCSI card from IRQ 11 to IRQ 10 or IRQ 3. Then, amend the driver statement in the Config.sys to reflect the IRQ setting that you chose: Device=C:\SESSION8\DIGI8TRK.SYS /DSP_IRQ=3 (or DSP_IRQ=10). Most computers use IRQ 3 for Com Port 2. If there is a mouse or modem hooked up to Com Port 2, do not use IRQ 3 for Session 8.

2) What is the Port address of the other device? If it is Port 200, then you must change the Port on Session 8 to 300 (Note: game ports of audio cards such as SoundBlaster may have port conflicts with Session 8). If both 200 and 300 are in use by other devices, then you must change the address of one of those other devices. If you change the Port on the Session 8 SCSI card, then amend the driver statement in the Config.sys to reflect the Port setting that you chose: Device=C:\SESSION8\DIGI8TRK.SYS /Port=300

Anytime you make a change in Config.sys, you must reboot the computer. Port address conflicts may just bog the computer down. They generally, but not always, will eventually lock up the computer.
