SCSI drive compatibility guidelines
A: There is one good rule of thumb for drives - they must support 512 bytes per sector. CD ROM drives default to 2048 bytes per sector, we don't work with them unless they can accept a (mode select) command to switch to 512 bytes per sector. For example : The Power CD from Apple will not work because of this. The NEC CD ROM drives do not work, we've found them to be non-standard in their SCSI implementation. Source is John Teel - YCRD |
