Q:
How to install drivers in Windows 95 from a floppy disk. Installing drivers
A:
1. From the Start Menu, Open Settings, Control Panels; select Add New Hardware
Windows 95 will display one or two windows asking if you would like the "Wizard" to scan for your new hardware. We do not want it to scan. Hit "No" and then "Continue." 2. Select "Sound, Video, and Game Controllers" The next window will offer a list of different types of hardware to install. We'll choose "Sound, Video, etc." 3. Click "Have Disk" In the next window, Win95 will list a number of manufacturers. Choose "Have Disk." 4. Insert the disk. Click "OK," and Windows 95 will install the driver. That's it. The driver is now installed. Be sure to select the correct Base Address, IRQ, and DMA's from the drop down lists, they must match the dip switch or jumper settings on the card or device you are setting up. The card or device may have any combination or none of these settings, and the driver may have settings for any combination or none of these. Whatever the case, the card/devices settings must be duplicated in its associated software driver, and the driver may have more settings, making the extra settings software selectable. All of the settings must be unique to this device/card and this driver. No other card/device on the system can share its IRQ, address, or DMA's. An IRQ, base address, or DMA might be in use even if you don't actually see a driver using the setting.
