The Updater Update If you've visited our download site (www.opcode.com ) recently, you may have noticed some new updaters in the Studio Vision Pro directory. Here's the lowdown on what they are and who needs them: - 3.0.3 Update - Who needs this update? Every Studio Vision Pro owner! This update is NOT available at the web site. It addresses a copy protection problem, and is only available in the form of a complete disk set or CD-ROM. The CD-ROM version is being mass-shipped to every registered Studio Vision Pro 3.0 and Overture 1.1 owner this week. Due to the change in copy protection, users must have this version 3.0.3 in order to use Studio Vision updaters posted on the web site in the future. This update also adds support for Mono In/Stereo Out TDM Plug-Ins, support for the Digidesign Bridge I/O system, plus several other feature improvements. - 3.0.3 to 3.0.4 - Who needs this update? Users of Audiomedia III (PCI) & Pro Tools III TDM (PCI) The 3.0.4 update provides compatibility for the PCI based digital audio cards from Digidesign, the Audiomedia III (PCI) and Pro Tools III TDM (PCI). Users of these PCI cards must also install DAE/Digi System INIT 3.0 or later. You can get the latest DAE/DSI from the following site: (ftp.digidesign.com ) Users of NuBus digital audio cards should continue using version 2.95. - 3.0.3 to 3.0.5 - Who needs this update? 1) Any users of Pro Tools Project (PCI) and, 2) Yamaha CBX users noticing SMPTE sync problems. As of this writing this updater was not yet posted to the FTP site, however, it is due out in a week or so. This version will have one new feature - support for Pro Tools Project PCI. It will now include the option of Project mode; you won't have to use Session 8 anymore with NuBus. Additionally, audio scrubbing will be available on those cards. The only other difference from 3.0.4 will be a fix for the SMPTE sync problems with the Yamaha CBX system. So, in a nutshell here is where a user should be should be in regard to Studio Vision Pro (SVP) updates: - If, for audio, they are using Apple Sound Manager, Audiomedia II, Session 8, or Pro Tools III (NuBus) they should be using SVP 3.0.3. - If they are using Audiomedia III (PCI) , or Pro Tools III (PCI) they should be using SVP 3.0.4. - If they are using Pro Tools Project (PCI), or a Yamaha CBX, they should be using SVP 3.0.5 DAE/DSI So, once you've got the correct version of Studio Vision Pro installed, which versions of DAE and Digi System INIT should you be running? In simple terms, if you use the version of DAE/DSI that shipped with your version of Studio Vision Pro, you'll be OK. But if the question comes up, here it is in a nutshell: If they are using SVP 3.0.1/3.0.2, they should be using DAE 1.42 / DSI 2.92. If they are using SVP 3.0.3, 3.0.4, or 3.0.5, on a nubus based Mac, they should be using DAE 2.95 / DSI 2.95. If they are using SVP 3.0.3, 3.0.4, or 3.0.5, on a PCI based Mac, they should be using DAE 3.0 / DSI 3.0. If you have any questions about compatibility, or if you have NFR versions of Studio Vision Pro that need to be updated to 3.0.3, please feel free to contact Mac or Bob - we'll take care of you as soon as possible!
